When the Mistress Became the Interviewee

His first email was brief. Nothing unusual there.

Before arranging a session, I normally ask someone to answer the questions on my website. They give us a place to begin: what he is seeking, what his everyday life looks like, and how much room he has made for this part of himself.

His reply caught my attention because he answered every question. Carefully, and in detail.

Some men send a line or two to find out whether I will respond. Some are protective of their privacy. Others struggle to put their desires into words and find it easier when I ask questions along the way. There are many reasons for a short introduction, and I do not assume they all mean the same thing.

But a thoughtful reply gives me something to respond to. Before meeting this man, I already had a sense of the life he would be arriving from.

These were his answers, in his own words.

What are you seeking, beyond surface-level desire?

I’m not sure, I’m watching Femdom porn since young age but I never meet a dominatrix before. I like high heel boots, tight clothes, I like the femininity, maybe a dominatrix that humiliate me and use her strapon on me.

What does your current lifestyle look like, and where does control fit within it?

I’m married and I manage a big team, so I’m always in charge of everything and time decisions. Stress. I’m always in control.

When and where do you have privacy to engage fully?

I find my me time everyday after work at the bar, drinking couple of beer before come home. There is the only place of pace between my work life and my family life.

What kind of structure or dynamic do you respond to most naturally?

I’m not sure, probably if a session start with a drink would help.

Do you have prior experience, or are you exploring this for the first time?

Very very first time

The answer about the bar stayed with me.

There was something very specific about those minutes between work and home. He managed a large team, carried responsibility, and spent his days making decisions. Before returning to family life, he allowed himself a little time alone.

At that point, I did not yet know what he did with that time.

Later, he sent me a reference video from Kink.com. It featured a man in a white shirt and a feminine, confident dominatrix, with teasing and humiliation setting the tone.

The scenario was familiar to me. What made it useful was the atmosphere it communicated. It helped me understand the kind of presence he was drawn to and what he hoped to experience with me.

Erotic domination is how I would describe that tone.

Between his answers and the video, I had a starting point. The rest would come from meeting him.

He arrived on Friday evening carrying a lovely bottle of champagne.

He worked in hospitality, and his choice reflected that. It was a thoughtful beginning.

I expected us to spend some time talking. With someone coming for the first time, there is always something to discuss, even after a detailed exchange of emails. A person sitting in front of you brings a different kind of understanding.

During our conversation, he told me about something else he had done before deciding to meet me.

He had come across several different profiles online. He wanted to know whether I was real, so he had asked Gemini to assess my profile.

According to him, Gemini had concluded that I was real. It had pointed to my presence across different social platforms, the consistent photographs, and the articles I continued to publish. My profiles were active, with an ongoing history of writing and posting.

I found that fascinating. Before we had exchanged questions in person, he had already asked an AI a question about me. The writing I put into the world had helped him feel confident enough to come and meet the woman behind it.

Our conversation soon travelled well beyond those initial questions.

He told me about the countries where he had worked. It was an extensive list, and he had clear impressions of the places he had liked best and those he had enjoyed less.

When I mentioned that I had recently returned from Los Angeles, he told me he had been offered opportunities in New York and LA the previous year. He had chosen Beijing, partly because he felt life there would be safer.

I told him I had found Los Angeles beautiful and had felt safe during my visit. We had different impressions, shaped by our own experiences. I enjoyed hearing his.

His work required creativity, and I found him to be a creative person. That became even clearer when the conversation returned to his visits to the bar.

He told me he wrote stories there.

BDSM stories, about female domination and male submission.

He showed me his work on Amazon Kindle. There were different characters and scenarios: a robotic dominatrix, a woman with a girl-next-door quality, a therapist, and others I cannot now recall as clearly.

I had read his email as a description of a quiet pause in the day. Now I could picture what filled that pause.

He would sit with a beer after work and write, allowing his mind to wander into the worlds he created. Within those thirty or forty minutes, there was room for something quite separate from the decisions and demands of his working life.

That interested me enormously.

He had never met a dominatrix before, yet he had already spent time imagining women in that role, giving them personalities and placing them in stories.

Now he was sitting with one.

Somewhere along the way, our conversation became an interview.

Usually, I am the one asking questions. I want to understand the person who has come to see me, including the things he may find difficult to explain.

This time, he was equally curious about me.

How had I moved from the corporate world into this one? How had I first recognised this inclination in myself? What did I enjoy most? Where did the pleasure lie for me?

He said he hoped I would not mind the questions. Understanding a real dominatrix might help him with his future writing.

I appreciated his openness about that. His curiosity also gave the conversation an unexpected direction. He wanted to know about the woman making the choices: how I had arrived here, what interested me, and what I experienced from my side of an encounter.

When he asked what I enjoyed, my answer had several parts.

There was the visual aspect. I told him that I found the kneeling position itself erotic. That was a direct and personal part of my answer.

I also enjoy meeting people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. Everyone brings a life that existed long before the first email: experiences, relationships, questions, and their own understanding of what they want.

I am particularly interested in how someone comes to recognise this part of himself. When did he first notice it? How did he understand the intensity of the feeling? Was it easy to acknowledge, or did finding words for it take time?

Then there is the question of how it fits into everyday life.

How does someone make room for these private needs alongside work, family, and other responsibilities? How does he understand them within a relationship? Does his partner know? How does he navigate the distance, if there is one, between this part of himself and the person his closest friends and family know?

I find those questions absorbing. The answers are individual, and I enjoy listening to how people describe their own lives.

As for my journey from the corporate world to becoming a dominatrix—that is a longer story. It deserves an essay of its own.

For this evening, I found it interesting to be the person answering. His questions made me pause and consider how I would explain familiar feelings and choices to someone encountering them for the first time.

There was another surprise.

He asked my birthday.

We shared the same day.

After discovering several things in common, finding that out was a delightful coincidence. For a moment, I wondered whether it helped explain why the conversation felt so easy.

Perhaps that was simply the pleasure of discovering another small connection. Either way, it made me smile.

The activities that followed were familiar territory for me. The distinctive part of this encounter had already unfolded in our conversation.

The man who had carefully answered my questions had arrived with questions of his own. As we spoke, the few lines about his daily life began to carry more meaning.

I understood his time at the bar differently. I had seen the stories he wrote there. I had heard his curiosity about the people behind the roles he imagined.

And I recognised something of myself in his habit of writing.

Friday evenings are usually a good time for me to receive someone.

There is a particular ease in knowing the working week is ending. I can relax into the evening without thinking about an early start the next morning.

That Friday had been especially demanding. I had spent much of the day responding to sharp movements in the financial markets. It required attention, quick decisions, and considerable mental energy.

Preparing to receive him meant making time and making mental space. I needed to step away from the day's demands, prepare, and give my attention to the person coming to meet me.

I welcomed that transition.

Earlier, he had described the small interval he kept between work and home. During our conversation, I learned that he filled it with writing, letting his imagination move beyond the pressures of the day.

I understood that wish for a change of pace. Our meeting gave me one, too.

Later, when I thought about what had stayed with me, I kept returning to the beginning: the champagne, the conversation, the unexpected questions, and a man sitting in a bar writing stories.

I wanted to write about it.

And here I am.
